- Eternity includes today. Don't wait till you're dead to see God. Find Him in the people you meet today.
- Eulogies are great. The speaker talks about all of "Charlie's" amazing character traits and accomplishments and the wonderful impact he had on people's lives. Too bad "Charlie's" too dead to hear it! Tell people what you admire about them while they can still hear you.
- Laugh at your mistakes. Why should everyone else have all the fun!
- No one is nearly as interested in you being happy as you are. If you expect them to be, you'll be disappointed. Create happiness. Don't mope around waiting for someone to give it to you.
- A problem is just an annoying opportunity.
- Don't focus on what's wrong with people. Look for what's right. Finding good in others is a sure ticket to joy in yourself.
- Encourage the good in people and you'll start to see a lot more of it.
- You're made in the image of God. That means you're free and creative. What are you going to use your freedom to create today?
- Mistakes are a sign of life. If you're not making any, you're dead.
- Christianity is not a lecture. It's a way of life. Live it. Don't describe it.
- Veteran's Day: While people can debate the wisdom of a particular war, or war in general, what can't be debated is that many have fought with the purpose in their hearts of protecting the life and freedom of others. They sacrificed a part of their lives and in some cases gave up their lives because they thought it was necessary for the good of the rest of us. Today is a day to be grateful for what they gave up for us.
- Words are like fire. They can warm your house or burn it down.
- No matter how smart you are, you're not smart enough to live someone else's life for them.
- What you see is controlled by what you're looking for. If you look for beauty, you'll find it. If you look for opportunity, you'll find it. If you look for flaws and obstacles, you'll find them too.
- If you don't like yourself, you're probably not very fond of anyone else either.
- Racehorses are carefully bred with the parents chosen to pass on their best characteristics to the children. The bad news is great parents don't guarantee winning offspring. The good news is bad parents don't guarantee bad offspring. Some of the greatest racehorses had undistinguished parents.
- "Now" is the only time you can do anything.
- Nov. 19: "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here."(Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address, Nov. 19,1863) Lincoln was wrong. His speech is remembered as one of the greatest of all time and is oft quoted. Sadly, the men who died at the Battle of Gettysburg are mostly forgotten. Never underestimate the power of what you say.
- If you love people the world will change.
- You lack the power to judge another person accurately but you have the power to love a person unconditionally.
- Thanksgiving: Today is the day to let people know you are thankful to have them in your life. While it is certainly important to thank God for His many blessings, He already knows what's in your heart. Mere mortals are not so fortunate. Make a point to tell people how much they enrich your life.
- Your aptitude for gratitude determines the state of your attitude.
- The easiest benefit to confer on someone is to tell them the truth about something good you see in them.
- Taking yourself seriously is the surest path to disappointment.
- Life is fun! Everyday is the wedding at Cana. Christ is turning water into wine in your life in some way all day, every day. Look for the ways Christ is making things wonderful for you today.
- Happiness doesn't just happen. It's created by action. If you act to create some happiness for someone else, you'll create some for yourself for sure.
- Love looking for a return is not love at all. It's a worthless bribe that will yield a worthless return.
- The Acts of the Apostles is the story of people receiving the power of the Holy Spirit and changing the world. There were those who received the power of the Holy Spirit and did not change the world. They didn't use the power they'd been given. We do not know their story. Their story was not worth telling. Live a story worth telling. Use the power to change the world as you encounter it today and everyday.
